LIVING WATERS
For the proclamation of the Gospel and the edification of the Body of Christ
More Important Than Birds
"...casting all your anxiety upon him, because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).
Limitless, infinite, eternal... Such is the peace that the Lord Jesus Christ offers! Different from what the world knows, which only depends on circumstances. This is another peace. It is not related to the absence of conflicts, but refers rather to a supernatural capacity to be able to live quietly and peacefully, without anguish or shocks, without fear or trembling, in the midst of a world full of problems, convulsed, eroded, overwhelmed by anger, crises and tribulations.
Think for a moment of certain things that happen around us when there are storms accompanied by heavy rains. Birds look for a safe place to shelter. They know when it is going to rain and seem to predict the intensity of the water and wind. God made them this way so that they could save themselves.
I remember an old, leafy tree next to my home office. Through a window I could almost touch it. Once, little birds made their nest there. One day it rained very heavily and I remembered them. There was the mother, soaking wet, covering her little ones while the wind almost blew the nest to the ground. But she stood firm.
That's how birds are. They hide, they take shelter, no one sees them; they hide among the branches of the trees enduring the inclement weather; they cling to the branches, all wet and cold. However, something seems to tell them that everything will pass, that after the storm will come the calm, that they only have to endure the storm for a short time. And they are saved by it.
They do not read the Bible, or listen to preaching, or go to church. They have no theological studies, but they have been created in a wonderful way by the Almighty God, and he is their Guardian and takes care of them: "Behold the birds of the air, which neither sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" (Matt. 6:26). José R. Frontado (Venezuela).
